Children Forever
What ages is the body—dust and seams;
my love, let us remain where children stay.
I never vowed to rust in matching dreams,
nor worship time for taking youth away.
I’ll dance with you when feet forget their art,
we’ll hold hands once the stubborn music starts—
a borrowed sway, a smile torn apart,
until the flesh resigns its final parts.
Let skin grow maps; the soul refuses age.
Stay near me—near, as laughter learns to last.
We’ll eat the light, we’ll cry upon the page,
until even hunger says, enough—at last.
